On The Horns Of A Dilemma

After a recent disappointment, a client of mine sought guidance for a more positive future outcome. I did a ten card reading in a Celtic Cross Spread to reflect on the current and coming issues/resolutions occurring in her life.
Reading
Ten of Swords (Current Issue) This disappointment is more like a bout of depression.
The Fool (Hinder/Help) A new beginning is just over the horizon. Fear of the unknown holds her back. A leap of faith into the future.
The Chariot (Root) Need for adventure. A restless mind.
King of Wands Reversed (Past) Man with violent tendencies. Bad memories.
Seven of Cups Reversed (Passing Over and Away) A wasteful phase comes to an end. Dreams become reality.
The World (Immediate Future) - Travel overseas.
King of Coins (The Self) - Self-employment.
Moon (Others) - A surprise.
Five of Coins (Fears/Hopes) - Poverty
Knight of Coins (Outcome) A change of work. A boring job. Overtime.
Ace of Wands (Outcome additional) - Taking a chance/risk.
Interpretation
The first card, Ten of Swords gives us some idea of her current frame of mind, and indicates that there is more than a minor disappointment at work here. The card is extremely negative, and tells of a time when we feel that things could not possibly get any worse. Perhaps this latest episode is the straw that has broken the camel's back, (so to speak!) and there seems to be no way out of this negative cycle. A sense of worthlessness and despair prevail, and life feels flat and empty.
The good news is, the worst is finally over, and in the distance the sun is rising again to bring us hope for another day. Something better is on the horizon. The Fool offers a new direction, a journey to unknown territory with the promise of a little adventure along the way. Yet, there is fear and apprehension, as she confronts her own low self esteem in deciding whether to take a risk, or remain in her current state of inertia and depression. There may be a fear of failing, as our lack of self confidence rears its head.
The Chariot tells of the need to go in search of adventure. The current inactivity surrounding her is causing the feelings of worthlessness and disappointment seen in the first card. Long term unemployment found in the Five of Coins, has a way of eroding away our sense of self worth, and there is a need for her to act with courage and determination, keeping total focus on her goals. The card says 'go for it!!' - strike out on a new path and start moving forward again.
There seems to be some underlying past issues concerning a man, possibly from a previous relationship, that may be affecting her in the present. The King of Wands Reversed is a unsavoury character, and the card can indicate abusive relationships and domestic violence. Perhaps the issues represented by the first card go a little deeper than first anticipated. Alongside the Seven of Cups Reversed, it does seem to indicate an extremely toxic relationship, and the damage that accompanies such a destructive union. There may have been substance abuse and escapism, avoidance of facing up to certain issues.
The World brings a current cycle to a successful conclusion in the immediate future, positive change is definitely on the horizon. There may be some sort of travel indicated, but it's likely to be over land with The Chariot nearby, rather than international.
Deep down, she would very much like to work for herself, be her own boss, and this is the very essence of the King of Coins. Here is somebody that has the ability to manage their own business. However, others around her may not quite share her enthusiasm, and see her as having unrealistic expectations about current self employment plans. This is reflected in The Moon found in the position of 'others' and her surrounding environment.
Fear of poverty and maybe even homelessness holds her back, plus an underlying fear of failure, are keeping her in an uncomfortable comfort zone. The Five of Coins tells of a lack of funds, and loss of financial balance. A state of alienation leads to negative thinking. These fears have grown into a monster, and some perspective is urgently needed!
The outcome is a positive one in the Knight of Coins, she can expect an increase in funds, although not excessively, but enough to feel comfortable. This card can sometimes signify a steadfast young man involved in her life, he is sensible, kind and hardworking, if not a little dull and unadventurous at times. He takes his time with tasks, being meticulous (to a fault on occasion), nothing ever gets done in any great hurry with him. Combined with the energy of the Ace of Wands, the combination brings the beginning of something exciting. A sense of happiness, stability and achievement.
